If you want a good distro for these \u00abAtom\u00bb tablets I recommend you LINUXIUM ISO&#8217;s with kernel 4.12.<\/p>\n<p>For any other kind of tablet you can use my normal XJUbuntu ISO&#8217;s and just increase DPI, panel size, font size, etc. following this guide:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.archlinux.org\/index.php\/HiDPI#Xfce\"> https:\/\/wiki.archlinux.org\/index.php\/HiDPI#Xfce<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other features like gestures (touchegg), on-screen keyboard, etc. are already\/still included on the standard XJUbuntu ISO&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>You can also install newer kernels with ukuu tool included in ubuntumatics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>live user: usu&nbsp;&nbsp; \/\/&nbsp; live password: blank\/empty&nbsp; \/\/&nbsp; root password: usu<\/p>\n<p>If you get the boot message \u00abvesamenu.c32&#8230;&nbsp; boot:\u201d just type \u201clive\u201d or \u201cxforcevesa\u201d (special video mode where you can\u2019t rotate) or \u201cinstall\u201d or press TAB for more options. You can avoid this using Unetbootin. (Or enabling EFI in Virtualbox)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>XJUbuntu TAB or XJUbunTAB or XJUbuntu is a special distro for Intel tablets (x86 and amd64 , not ARM), hybrids 2 in 1, netbooks, etc. based on <strong>Xubuntu 16.04<\/strong>. But you will also benefit on high-powered devices from the speed and customizations.<\/li>\n<li>These are some <strong>touchegg multitouch gestures<\/strong> I have configured in XJUbunTAB in XFCE:\n<ul>\n<li>Show Desktop: Drag 5 fingers DOWN<\/li>\n<li>Close window: Drag 4 fingers DOWN<\/li>\n<li>Expos\u00e9 Windows: Drag 4 fingers UP<\/li>\n<li>Maximize window: Drag 3 fingers UP<\/li>\n<li>Minimize window: Drag 3 fingers DOWN<\/li>\n<li>Move windows: Drag 3 fingers RIGHT or LEFT<\/li>\n<li>right-click: Tap with 2 fingers<\/li>\n<li>middle-click: Tap with 3 useful for other kind of tablets and computers in general as well.<\/p>\n<p>Please leave feedback in the comments with your hardware and release tested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>** What works (on Teclast X98 Plus):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Triple Boot Android+Windows+XJUbunTAB on internal eMMC (see below screenshot with partitions) and on external USB drive (not microSD card)\n<ul>\n<li>You have to press Vol+ while powering up your tablet to go to BIOS and select Ubuntu partition to boot<\/li>\n<li>Or connect and USB keyboard and press F7 to select booting partition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Internal WiFi (Realtek 8723bs) Working with <a href=\"https:\/\/my.pcloud.com\/publink\/show?code=kZkkIQZBQ1peynuJ1h1sm4nz2igijmnWTk7\">kernel 4.5.4 patched<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/hadess\/rtl8723bs\">this driver<\/a> thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/member.php?u=7425580\">Akmelius<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Kernel and system optimized for Baytrail\/CherryTrail Intel CPUs.<\/li>\n<li>You can follow <a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/xjubuntu\/files\/16.04%2064%20bits%20XJUbunTAB%20-%20patched%20kernel%20for%20tablets%20or%20Hybrids\/Akmelius%20Atom%20kernel\/\">this guide<\/a> to install this kernel in any other Ubuntu based distro.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Internal Bluetooth\n<ul>\n<li>sudo ~\/Patches\/rtl8723bs_bt\/rtk_hciattach -n -s 115200 ttyS4 rtk_h5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>USB GigaEthernet\/WiFi\/Bluetooth cards\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fixedbyvonnie.com\/2013\/08\/how-to-setup-your-galaxy-s4-for-usb-tethering\/\">USB Tethering<\/a> works (You can use WiFi or 3G\/4G from your phone)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>USB keyboard\/mouse\n<ul>\n<li>You can use <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=remote.hid.keyboard.client\">your Mobile as USB keyboard\/mouse<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Or share your PC&#8217;s keyboard\/mouse with <a href=\"http:\/\/synergy-project.org\">Synergy<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/quicksynergy\/\">Quick-synergy<\/a> integrated in XJubuntu lets you use the same Now you can use 2-fingers tap with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/JoseExposito\/touchegg\">TouchEgg <\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Access to eMMC internal flash and microSD slot card.<\/li>\n<li>Power button \/ Suspend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>** What doesn&#8217;t work (on Teclast X98 Plus):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>You can rotate the screen but the touchscreen doesn&#8217;t rotate accordingly in XFCE, it needs <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/X\/InputCoordinateTransformation\">manual adjustements (Solved)<\/a>&#8230; In Unity it works Ok. I have created in XFCE some scripts\/buttons for direct access.<\/li>\n<li>Auto-rotate \/ rotation sensors\n<ul>\n<li>Possible solutions: <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/folderview?id=0BypQwP0us6vqNkV0NDN6VklLUms&amp;usp=sharing&amp;tid=0B9C1WK1FQhjfcXNrbzN6djQzajg\">this script<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/rubo77\/daa262e0229f6e398766\">this<\/a>. But first it needs <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/hadess\/iio-sensor-proxy\">this driver<\/a> active and \u00abiio-sensor-proxy\u00bb installed in kernel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>microSD card slot access to a 128GB Samsung Evo Plus. My BIOS is from 15\/01\/2016. Note that some kernels only can see 7 partitions max, so not every Clonezilla will work right. I&#8217;ve uploaded one that works right <a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/xjubuntu\/files\/16.04%2064%20bits%20XJUbunTAB%20-%20patched%20kernel%20for%20tablets%20or%20Hybrids\/Clonezilla%20MMC%20friendly\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/x98-air\/general\/guide-install-ubuntu-teclast-tablets-t3352310\/post66204362\">OLD INSTALLATION GUIDE ON TECLAST TABLETS in XDA Forum<\/a><\/li>\n<li>You can now install the distro on internal eMMC and\/or external USB drives (I haven&#8217;t tried microSD), but still needs some manual grub boot and later \u00absudo update-grub\u00bb.<del><\/del>\n<ul>\n<li>There are Grub menus already created for different scenarios that can be modified to your needs.<\/li>\n<li>EFI32 Problem description (and solution that used to work) here: <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Manouchehri\/vi8\/blob\/master\/Ubuntu_instructions.md\">https:\/\/github.com\/Manouchehri\/vi8\/blob\/master\/Ubuntu_instructions.md<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>SOLVED: Most of these tablets have EFI-32 bits but you can boot\/install any 64 bits distro made with <a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/pinguy-os\/files\/ISO_Builder\/\">PinguyBuilder<\/a>. (like XJUbunTAB)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Here you can see some screenshots of my installation from one usb disk (\/dev\/sda) with the live-installer into another usb disk (\/dev\/sdb) where I have permanently installed the distro.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/UcNuBcXl.png\">https:\/\/imgur.com\/UcNuBcXl.png<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/afe7OWF.png\">https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/afe7OWF.png<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/KRJRXxa.png\">https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/KRJRXxa.png<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t use swap partitions unless you really need it because it can degrade flash drives.<\/li>\n<li>After rebooting, keep both usb disks connected, select grub menu from the external drive.
